Tributes Pour In for the Reiners as Autopsy Reports Face a Security Hold.
More than two weeks following the shocking loss of renowned film director Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones continue to honor the pair.
‘Life is Pain Without You’: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director
Sharing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, explained he only now felt ready to express about his personal sorrow.
"Adequate time has passed that I can now express my sorrow into words," posted Elwes, saying that his first meeting with Reiner made him fall in love. "Once we started passing more hours together I understood this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor uploaded archival material from the movie, commenting that he could not remember "any day without joy".
"The movie is about affection, allegiance and giving. Things that Rob valued immensely. Which is among the many reasons he was the perfect person to helm it," Elwes wrote.
He additionally honored Michele Reiner, noting: "Asserting that they were a great team would be an oversimplification. My heart still hurts every time I think of you." He finished with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."
Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Fellow Artist
In a different essay, revered director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved being with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese highlighted Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the main character.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked seamlessly with the cast, and he understood the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese added.
Judicial Actions: Autopsy Reports Restricted
This week, a Los Angeles superior court judge agreed to prevent the disclosure of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, following a petition from the Los Angeles Police Department.
A legal directive placed a embargo on the files to prohibit the public release of "any investigative information, notes, reports or photos" associated with the ongoing investigation.
The relevant authority had previously confirmed their deaths were the consequence of murder, with a public database listing the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".
Fallout and Commentary
Following the killings, public personalities expressed different comments.
Former President Donald Trump posted on the matter, making controversial statements that were widely condemned by many public figures.
Podcaster Joe Rogan lent his voice to the critics recently. Speaking on his program, Rogan characterized the remarks as "shocking" and suggested they revealed a concerning lack of empathy.
Rogan ended by remarking that an aide could have acted when the decision to speak on the death was made.
